Love creek sanctuary was founded in 2016. It all started with Stu the steer and his best friend Petey the goat, from there we have rescued over 90 animals, 45 make their home here at the sanctuary. Our camping areas are fenced from the animals but you are free to explore our 12 acres and interact with the animals during your stay here. We ask that children under 10 stay outside the animal areas and children over 10 are accompanied by a grownup. We have plenty of art and child friendly activities, just ask and we can set you up. We have a no dog policy because the chickens and birds are free ranging, unfortunately we have had several bad experiences with dogs attacking the birds and other animals. If you have a dog that has been around farm animals and is well behaved, let's talk about it. We have 5 dogs so the birds have NO FEAR of them. ---- We are a working farm - PLEASE READ----- There are donkeys, roosters, dogs and peacocks that make noise, sometimes at night and always early in the morning. Please be aware that you may hear the donkeys bray (usually lasts about 30 seconds), roosters crow, guinea fowl chirp. It is startling and will wake you up. We do our best to keep the dogs hushed but we cannot stop the donkeys, roosters and peacocks from doing their thing. If you are a light sleeper, please bring earplugs or select another wonderful Hipcamp in our area, thank you! In addition to the interesting sounds you will hear, you will encounter dirt, poop and spiders. Since we are a working farm, things get dirty. We spray all high traffic surfaces twice a day but things get dirty and when it rains it is muddy. Please plan accordingly. We are centrally located between Grass Valley and Auburn, giving you access to endless recreational activities, wineries, breweries and restaurants. We have 50 or so rescued farm animals, you can interact with our pig Hank, Mojo the goat or Teddy the alpaca. NOTE: Starting Memorial Day each year, we have replaced all of our wood fire pits with gas fire pits. We have increased our prices to help cover the costs of propane. Thank you for choosing us!

Site 1 - Camp at our farm sanctuary!
Beautiful little spot- my partner and I loved hanging out with all the farm animals. A perfect launching pad for a day at the Yuba, and recovering spot from a day of getting sun-kissed. Shanna is a delight and ensured our stay was a great one. We'll be coming back, thank you!

Bring a group to the sanctuary!
A DREAM COME TRUE!
I was lucky enough to snag Love Creek Sanctuary for my Bachelorette Party this past weekend. I booked it last Fall for Memorial Day weekend this year, and our experience was truly amazing. We had 19 of us, and there was plenty of room for all of us to camp. The stars were bright, the environment was stunning and so peaceful. The animals were adorable and hilarious. They had peacocks, a cat, ducks, chickens, pigs, llamas, horses, goats, guinea foul and the neighbors had big, beautiful cows! I highly recommend going especially if you love farm animals. The chickens were incredibly friendly and came up to us/were very comfortable hanging out near us. The cat demanded pets which was very cute. Be careful with your cars, because the cat tried to hitch a ride. The host was amazing, super responsive and very accommodating. We brought our own projector and sheet, because I forgot that this is something this hipcamp offers. We thought we forgot one of our bags and Shanna, the host offered to mail it once she found it. Super sweet person. We finally found it in one of the many cars, but it's still very kind that she was willing to help. The animals are loud once the sun comes up. I am a fairly heavy sleeper (especially after a night of partying), but would definitely reiterate Love Creek Sanctuary's advice on bringing earplugs. If you aren't keen on tent camping they have a gorgeous trailer that is in great condition. My maid of honor stayed in it. Thank you so much Shanna!

Camping with animals!
Wonderful experience! We will be back! Shanna & Garth were so kind, as was everyone else on the property, including the animals! The property is beautiful, peaceful, relaxing and heart warming. The location is close to many incredible hikes & swimming holes. Camping with the animals was a truly special experience that I encourage everyone to try. This trip soothed my soul and I plan to bring friends and family here next time. Book it!

Perfect girls trip!
The trailer was perfect. Some of us stayed inside, some slept under the stars. Being around the animals was great and it was very peaceful. Shanna even came over after dark and told us we could see the Northern Lights. Made the weekend so much more special. Thank you so very much. Comforts of home while camping. Perfect
